Major sculpture made for the 1992 Albert Paley: Sculpture exhibition at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. It addresses the relationship of geometric and organic form.
The twelve foot sculpture Wedge is an arrangement of hollow formed geometric shapes combined with more fluid and organic forms. A series of ramp-like wedges compose the base, from which rise a group of vertical monoliths. The severity of these geometrical verticals is relieved by an arrangement of gently curving organic pieces that cross in an X-shape to balance and soften the overall composition.
