Sculpture and Door Handles
Forged, fabricated, and painted steel with brass; cast bronze
The Willard Office Building, Washington, D.C.
The Willard Building is a historic hotel and office building in the nation's Capitol. Paley designed a sculpture and door handles for the office building. The Sculpture was designed for a niche by the elevators in the building, creating a pedestrian arena. Its color relates to that of the surrounding stone, while the brass accents relate to the elevator doors. The door handles were made for the main entrance doors to the business complex, a new addition to the historic hotel done at the same time as the restoration project.
